Tavily-backed search provider for native web_search, with a Settings → Plugins card for API key management and toggling DeepSeek replacement.
Install
# from GitHub (first run asks for allowBuilds approval — follow the hint, retry)
dsh plugin --profile web add github:renchengxiang/dsh-web-search-tavily
Any plugin you install runs third-party code with your own permissions — it can read your files, use your credentials, and reach the network, and tool approvals don’t sandbox it. GitHub-sourced plugins also run build scripts at install time — pnpm blocks those until you allow them, so an install can stop with ERR_PNPM_GIT_DEP_PREPARE_NOT_ALLOWED or ERR_PNPM_IGNORED_BUILDS; dsh prints the exact key to add under allowBuilds in your profile’s pnpm-workspace.yaml, and the install works on the next run. Allowing a build is a trust decision: only install sources you trust, and pin a commit (github:owner/repo#sha).
README
Tavily-backed web search provider for DeepSeek Harness.
It registers a tavily provider on ctx.web, can replace the native web_search backend, and adds a Settings → Plugins card for:
- API key management (via DSH credentials)
- toggling whether Tavily replaces DeepSeek native search
Install
dsh plugin --profile web add github:renchengxiang/dsh-web-search-tavily
Or with an HTTPS archive URL:
dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/renchengxiang/dsh-web-search-tavily/archive/refs/heads/main.tar.gz
Then fully restart DeepSeek Harness Desktop / dsh web.
Install from tag
dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/renchengxiang/dsh-web-search-tavily/archive/refs/tags/v0.1.0.tar.gz
Configure
- Open Settings → Plugins → Plugin configuration
- Expand Tavily search
- Paste your Tavily API key
- Keep Replace native web search enabled if you want
web_searchto use Tavily - Save
You can also export an environment variable / credential named TAVILY_API_KEY.
What it changes
| Aspect | Effect |
|---|---|
| Tool name | Still native web_search |
| Backend | Switches to Tavily when enabled |
| Settings UI | Adds a Plugins card under namespace tavily-search |
| Persistence | Survives restart via profile bundle patch |
Bundle patch
The package ships cordis.patch.yml through dsh.bundle.patch, so dsh plugin add mounts:
web.searchProvider: tavily- Host plugin row
web-search-tavily
No manual cordis.patch.yml editing is required for a clean install.
If you previously mounted a local/dev copy manually, remove the old local mount lines first to avoid double registration.
