Sidebar button that checks for DSH updates on startup, shows red dot for new versions, supports ignoring specific versions, and displays changelog preview with live download progress and GitHub mirror support for China.

Install

# from GitHub (first run asks for allowBuilds approval — follow the hint, retry)

dsh plugin --profile web add github:m1452700576/dsh-app-updater

Any plugin you install runs third-party code with your own permissions — it can read your files, use your credentials, and reach the network, and tool approvals don’t sandbox it. GitHub-sourced plugins also run build scripts at install time — pnpm blocks those until you allow them, so an install can stop with ERR_PNPM_GIT_DEP_PREPARE_NOT_ALLOWED or ERR_PNPM_IGNORED_BUILDS; dsh prints the exact key to add under allowBuilds in your profile’s pnpm-workspace.yaml, and the install works on the next run. Allowing a build is a trust decision: only install sources you trust, and pin a commit (github:owner/repo#sha).

README

A DSH web plugin: a sidebar button (icon only) that checks whether DSH has a newer release and, when one exists, auto-downloads the installer and opens it - with a live progress bar and a minimizable panel.

Features

  • Sidebar icon-only button (tooltip "Check DSH update"), red dot when new version found.
  • Probes known desktop-packaging repos (or your own githubRepo) for a newer release that ships a macOS installer (.dmg/.pkg/.zip).
  • Auto-downloads the installer to ~/Downloads (or downloadsDir) and runs open.
  • Live download progress (streaming bytes + percent), indeterminate bar when unknown.
  • Panel can be minimized to a floating bubble while downloading.
  • Supports multiple update sources (GitHub, npm).
  • Security checks: confirm before download, private IP blocking, SHA-256 checksum.
  • GitHub mirror support for fast downloads in mainland China.
