DeepSeek Harness Plugin

Ananpng123/dsh-disk-manager

Stars ★ 0 Category UI Enhancements Added 2026-11-02

Windows disk manager for the DeepSeek Harness right sidebar: volume overview with usage bars, a session-grouped list of the documents each conversation produced, drag files straight into the chat composer, multi-select with batch delete to Recycle Bin, an expandable folder tree with real app icons, workspace documents no session touched, on-demand folder sizes, and an explorer-style context menu. Delete goes to the recycle bin.

Install

# from GitHub (first run asks for allowBuilds approval — follow the hint, retry)

dsh plugin --profile web add github:Ananpng123/dsh-disk-manager

Any plugin you install runs third-party code with your own permissions — it can read your files, use your credentials, and reach the network, and tool approvals don’t sandbox it. GitHub-sourced plugins also run build scripts at install time — pnpm blocks those until you allow them, so an install can stop with ERR_PNPM_GIT_DEP_PREPARE_NOT_ALLOWED or ERR_PNPM_IGNORED_BUILDS; dsh prints the exact key to add under allowBuilds in your profile’s pnpm-workspace.yaml, and the install works on the next run. Allowing a build is a trust decision: only install sources you trust, and pin a commit (github:owner/repo#sha).

Browse local disks from the DeepSeek Harness right sidebar, following the logic of Windows Disk Management / File Explorer: volume overview, folder browsing, folder size accounting, desktop shortcuts, and hover previews.

Windows only. Browsing plus exactly two write operations: delete (always to the Recycle Bin) and create folder. No partition operations (extend / shrink / format are not implemented).

Features

  • Volume overview — every drive laid out like "This PC": drive glyph, Label (X:), used-space bar, X free of Y
  • Folder browsing — enter any directory; sort by name / size / modified time / type; group; detailed or compact density
  • Address bar — click to turn it into an input, type a path, press Enter
  • Folder size on demand — right-click a folder to measure it; deadline-guarded so the UI never hangs
  • Open by type — text, code, images, PDF, Office go to the built-in sidebar preview; video, audio, and archives go to the system default program
  • Desktop dock — desktop contents are laid out inline under the volume list; shortcuts show the real application icon
  • Hover peek — rest the pointer on a folder and a floating panel shows its contents, up to three levels, with drill-down
  • Multiple panes — "Open in new tab" gives each panel its own drive and its own remembered location
  • Delete — right-click a file or folder, confirm once, it goes to the Recycle Bin
  • New folder — right-click empty space inside a directory, type a name, it is created in place; an existing name is reported instead of overwritten

Install

From the plugin market

Add this index source in DSH Settings → Plugin Market:

https://ananpng123.github.io/dsh-disk-manager/index.json

Then search for disk on the Discover page and install.

From a local directory

# inside DSH, via the plugin manager
plugin_manager install_bundle <path-to>dsh-disk-manager

Restart DSH once after installing; two new buttons then appear in the session header — see Where the new buttons are.

The plugin has two halves: index.js runs in the DSH host process, client.js runs in the browser. Changing index.js requires a DSH restart; a page refresh only reloads client.js.

Listing status

Submitted to two community indexes, both waiting for review:

Index Submission Status
awesome-dsh-plugin PR #11387 open, CI green, +7/-0
Open Plugin Market (dshopen.org) issue #200 open, Git source (no npm release yet)

Until either is merged, install straight from the tag:

git+https://github.com/Ananpng123/dsh-disk-manager.git#v0.4.2

The market index this plugin ships is self-hosted at https://ananpng123.github.io/dsh-disk-manager/index.json; add it as an index source in Discover to see the listing immediately.

Usage

Install, then restart DSH once. The host half registers an HTTP route (/api/dsh-disk) that only comes alive after a restart — before that, every action reports "backend not ready". The client half hot-reloads, the host half does not.

Where the new buttons are

After restarting, look at the session header — the row of small icons above the input box. Two new buttons appear there:

Icon Tooltip What it opens
Monitor Desktop files Your Desktop folder as a right-sidebar tab, with a tree you can expand in place
Stacked folder Workspace files Documents each conversation in this workspace produced, grouped by conversation

Both open as tabs in the right sidebar, so you can keep several of them open at once.

Disk panel

  1. Click the monitor icon (or any volume in an already-open disk tab) to reach the volume list
  2. Click a volume to enter it, or type a path into the address bar and press Enter
  3. Click a folder to expand it in place; double-click to open it as its own page
  4. Right-click a file or folder: open in the built-in preview, open with the system app, reveal in Explorer, copy path, delete (Recycle Bin only)
  5. Right-click a volume card: open, open in new tab, disk checkup, properties

Workspace files panel

  1. Click the stacked-folder icon
  2. The list is grouped by conversation, newest first; click a group header to collapse or expand
  3. Click a document to open it in DSH's built-in preview; right-click for system app / reveal / copy path / delete
  4. The search box filters across all groups by file name

Compatibility

Item Requirement
OS Windows 10 / 11
DSH >=0.2.1-rc.5 (tested version)
PowerShell Windows PowerShell 5.1 (bundled with Windows)
Dependencies None

Known limitations

  • Windows only — the host half depends entirely on Windows APIs and PowerShell
  • No partition operations — extend, shrink, and format are not offered
  • No permanent delete — deletion always goes through the Recycle Bin
  • No rename or undo — hence no "undo rename" in the context menu either
  • No auto refresh — changes on disk need a manual refresh
  • Icons — resolved through SHGetFileInfo, which covers UWP and classic apps; a rare misregistered AppX package may fall back to a generic icon
  • PowerShell disabled — icons degrade to file-type icons; everything else keeps working

Development

# syntax check
node --check index.js && node --check client.js

# smoke test: calls the host handlers directly, no running DSH needed
npm test

# market index validation: runs the host's own parseMarketIndex
npm run test:market

npm test builds a sandbox in the system temp directory and runs 7 checks — volume enumeration, directory listing, folder size, create folder, duplicate-name message, file properties, empty-path rejection — then cleans up.

npm run test:market reads index.json and validates it with the @deepseek-ai/dsh-plugin-market-index copy shipped with DSH: field rules, relative icon resolution, and the generated install spec. Failures report the JSON path of the offending value.
